Prize pools for professional fighting game tournaments continue to grow by the day, with games like Ultra Street Fighter 4, Killer Instinct, and others getting generous boosts to their pots from various donors. It's now time to add Mortal Kombat X to this list, with Warner Bros. and NetherRealm increasing their contributions to the professional scene.
Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has outright doubled its contribution to July 11's ESL Mortal Kombat X Worldwide Competitive Program finals. Their donation has increased from $50,000 to $100,000. This is to add a little fuel to a rapidly-growing competitive scene, one that is already starting to increase its presence. This weekend's So Cal Regionals: Prelude, held by Level|Up, will conclude its day of competition with Mortal Kombat X, not Ultra Street Fighter 4, as has so often been the case previously.
Meanwhile, the fans can also help fund prize pools with their own wallet. The Blue Steel Sub-Zero skin is available for $1.99 on all platforms. Those proceeds will fund pots for the upcoming CEO tournament at the end of this month, as well as next month's Evo World Championships.
