The folks at Sony and Polyphony Digital are once again looking for the next great professional racer. And just as they have for four seasons prior, they are looking to Gran Turismo for their next prospect.
GT Academy will begin its fifth season tonight at midnight (time zone not provided). Gran Turismo 6 owners will be able to jump on their PS3s and access the special in-game event that will allow them to show their skills. The competition will last for eight weeks, with the 20 fastest race times advancing to the next stage. Finalists will then compete head-to-head against one another in the U.S. Nationals.
"In a change from previous years, the U.S. region will for the first time participate as part of the International competition where only the top six will advance to the International Finals," SCEA product manager Ken Chan explained on PlayStation.Blog. "There they will try to prove they are one of the best in the world, deserving of a shot at the dream job of a professional racing placement for Nissan."
The GT Academy competition will continue until June 16.
