The Bard’s Tale 4 will be heading to Kickstarter on Monday, June 2nd, inXile Entertainment has announced this morning, which just so happens to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the original Bard’s Tale.
The Bard’s Tale 4 will feature challenging dungeons filled with puzzles and riddles to explore, all within the first-person dungeon crawler style from the original trilogy. The Unreal 4 engine will allow the new Bard’s Tale to make a large graphical leap forward as players will be immersed in a highly-detailed world as InXile plans to use photogrammetry to help create in-game 3D objects straight from photos of architecture taken directly from Scotland.
The Bard’s Tale 4 will use a dynamic phase-based combat system that will utilize the complex decision-making opportunities of traditional phase-based combat systems, but will have enemies evolving their strategy. Music and sound design will have a strong focus and will be inspired by Gaelic musicians.

InXile Entertainment has some big ideas for The Bard's Tale 4, but at the same time, they have yet to release any demo or anything showing the game aside from the screenshot released above. Sure - it's a nice screenshot, but it's going to take more than a pretty picture to get any money out of our pockets.
