Sierra has released the first of what will be a four-part series of developer diaries that showcases the development process of King’s Quest, the publisher’s upcoming adventure game.
The first diary, called “The Vision,” tells the story of how The Odd Gentlemen became the development studio that was helmed with the revival of King’s Quest. The studio decided to start the new King’s Quest story with its end as an aged King Graham tells his granddaughter, Gwendolyn, of all of the untold tales of his life. When the team met with King’s Quest creator Roberta Williams and Sierra co-founder Ken Williams, they knew they were on the right track as they officially passed the torch from one generation to the next.
It's been quite some time since we received a new King's Quest game as the last one Sierra published was King's Quest: Mask of Eternity back in 1998. Hopefully this new King's Quest game will be the catalyst to bring even more adventure games back from the grave as we will go crazy if a new Space Quest or Quest for Glory game is announced in the future.
The first chapter of King’s Quest will be available later this year as a digital download on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC.
