Twitch users will finally be able to view gaming highlights and broadcasts from Twitch partners and ‘a growing number of broadcasters’ on their mobile devices.
Available videos on demand can be viewed from a channels activity feed. Twitch’s blog gives us two ways to get there.
- If watching a live channel, just tap the Activity Feed icon displayed on the player. For iOS it is found on the top left of the player. For Android users, the icon is on the bottom left.
- Tapping any offline channel will take you to the Activity Feed if you’re on the Search page or Following directory.
This release also fixes a possible security risk on the Android app. Users need to download and install the new app instead of updating the old one.
This is big news for the growing streaming company that The Wall Street Journal reported boasts 1.8 percent of peak US internet traffic. Twitch ranks fourth, beating Hulu, Facebook, and Amazon. In addition to this, Twitch announced their first gaming convention, TwitchCon, to be held in September.
The new Twitch app can be found here: http://ift.tt/1c53GKD. Be sure to delete the old app, Twitch will withdraw its support starting May 20, 2015.
