Monster Hunter Stories takes the series in a new JRPG direction

lundi 13 avril 2015

Capcom has announced a new Monster Hunter title for the Nintendo 3DS called Monster Hunter Stories.

The game was announced during Capcom’s Monster Hunter Fest ‘15 Finals and is a departure from the popular Monster Hunter series as it features a new design, which includes different looks for Felyne and Palico, but Stories also looks to feature the ability to mount monsters. In its debut trailer, we can see a rider mounting a small Rathalos.

The debut trailer doesn’t show how the game itself will play, although Monster Hunter producer Ryozo Tsujimoto says players will take on the role of “Riders” instead of Hunters in Stories and will focus more on the story between them and monsters.

The game is still in the middle of development and will stay true to the world of Monster Hunter while telling a story that can only be told through an RPG that’s been years in the making. We really enjoyed Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate and we are definitely looking forward to playing a more JRPG-style game when Monster Hunter Stories releases on the 3DS, that is, if Capcom decides to release it to Western markets since it’s only been announced for a Japanese release.
