Grand Theft Auto 5 Q&A addresses PC mod use, cheat fixes, and Rockstar Editor for consoles

jeudi 7 mai 2015

When Grand Theft Auto V released on PC in April, it came with some new features and a smidgen of controversy. While the door quickly opened for modding, not all of the mods came with Rockstar's blessing. In fact, some users were issued bans for using certain mods. Today, Rockstar issued a statement in regards to what's permissable when it comes to mod use. In short, single-player mods are totally fine.

"We have always appreciated the creative efforts of the PC modding community and we still fondly remember the awesome zombie invasion mod and original GTA map mod for GTAIV PC among many other classics," reads a Rockstar website post. "To be clear, the modding policy in our license has not changed and is the same as for GTAIV. Recent updates to GTAV PC had an unintended effect of making unplayable certain single player modifications. This was not intentional, no one has been banned for using single player modifications, and you should not worry about being banned or being relegated to the cheater pool just for using single player PC mods. Our primary focus is on protecting GTA Online against modifications that could give players an unfair advantage, disrupt gameplay, or cause griefing. It also bears mentioning that because game mods are by definition unauthorized, they may be broken by technical updates, cause instability, or affect your game in other unforeseen ways."

Along the topic of fairness in GTA Online, Rockstar also notes that fixes are on the way for God Mode, invisibility, and unlimited ammo cheats in online sessions. However, while a fix is "absolutely" on the way, no timetable was given.

Rockstar also detailed some of what's coming up for Grand Theft Auto V, including new vehicles, items, and Heist gains, though Rockstar is hesitating to commit to any new Heist missions, citing the workload required from the first batch that recently released. Console players will also get their opportunity to play around with the PC version's Rockstar Editor, with a summer arrival estimated for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
