Star Trek games debut on GOG

jeudi 7 mai 2015

May the 4th be with you, Revenge of the 5th, Revenge of the 6th. This week has been all about Star Wars, but to say this is the only big-time space-based science-fiction franchise in the universe would be highly illogical. The folks at GOG.com believe that, too, which is why the retailer has dug up three classic Star Trek games for sale.

  • Star Trek: 25th Anniversary - In the days of the old-school adventure game, Interplay released this point-and-click exploration game. Players took control of Captain Kirk, flying aboard the Starship Enterprise across eight space and ground missions. The authenticity in this 1992 classic was kicked up a notch with the actual voice cast of the original Star Trek television series, including William Shatner, the late Leonard Nimoy, and George Takei.
  • Star Trek: Judgment Rites - Hot off the success of Star Trek: 25th Anniversary came this sequel from Interplay. Featuring more of the point-and-click formula from the previous game, Judgment Rites added eight more missions, featuring more of the over-the-top craziness that helped define a franchise.
  • Star Trek: Starfleet Academy - Not everyone could be Captain Kirk, Captain Picard, or even Captain Archer. But there were always Starfleet Academy students that trained to hit that ceiling, which is the setting for this 1997 Interplay effort. Players jump into the role of Starfleet cadets playing out a number of simulated missions with classic Federation Starships. They'll test their skills against 30 enemy alien spaceships and opposing races like the Klingons and the Romulans.

These games are debuting in digital form for the first time. As is the case with all of the GOG offerings, these games are DRM-free.
