Sega Genesis games will soon be available to play on the Nintendo 3DS, Sega has announced.
The second wave of Sega 3D Classics will allow fans to play a number of iconic Sega Genesis games, including 3D versions of Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Streets of Rage 2, Gunstar Heroes, Fantasy Zone II, and Thunder Blade.
Each Sega title will be launched every month this spring and summer as 3D Fantasy Zone II will launch on April 16, with 3D Thunder Blade following on May 14, 3D Streets of Rage in July, 3D Gunstar Heroes in August, and 3D Sonic the Hedgehog 2 in September.
Similar to the previously released Sega 3D Classics, each game will be completely remastered and optimized for the 3DS by offering 3D visuals, new modes, and new features. All of these upcoming titles will be available to download in the Nintendo eShop at $5.99 each.
Last year, Sega announced the original 3D Classics lineup would consist of a number of arcade classics, such as OutRun and After Burner II. It’s great to see Sega continuing its efforts to deliver games we grew up playing on modern platforms, even after its announcement it was restructuring Sega of America earlier this year.
