Report: Microsoft will upload Cortana to iOS and Android devices

vendredi 13 mars 2015

Microsoft’s Cortana will be headed to Android and iOS devices shortly after the release of Windows 10, according to a report by Reuters.

The report cites people that are “familiar with the project” who say Cortana will be made available as a standalone application and will represent a new front in CEO Satya Nadella’s goal to deliver Microsoft software where its customers are, regardless of the device or platform they’re using.

For those who may not be familiar with Cortana, it was made available last year exclusively on a number of Microsoft Windows Phone devices. Cortana is powered by Microsoft’s Bing search technologies and can assist the user through interacting with their contacts, calendar, music, messages, reminders, and more.

This certainly isn’t the first time a piece of Microsoft software has become available across platforms as we’ve seen Office for iOS just a few months ago, as well as an Android and iOS version of Outlook. Making Cortana available on iOS and Android could certainly help Microsoft out as it’ll open the digital assistant up to more users. I’ve used Cortana in the past and I was always impressed with the technology running behind the blue circle, so I’d certainly be interested in having her on my Android and iOS devices.
